+ Step 2
Now you know your device can have a custom skin, its time to get designing.
Below the image of the device are a number of options in a large black box, here you can select which part you wish to customise and an array of materials will appear below. Choose the material that you want for the particular part and the image above will show you how your device will look. Once you have chosen your dream combination, move onto step 3.
+ Step 3
Time to choose which parts of your custom skin you want to order.
Below the customisation options there are some further choices. These are usually "Full Skin", "Front" and "Back" etc. The price will change depending on which part of your custom skin you want to order, but for the Full Custom Skin Experience, you should choose the "Full Skin" option.
+ Step 4
Once your happy with your Custom Skin Selection, you can add the design to your cart and either continue shopping or head straight to the checkout. The Custom Skin design will be sent to our warehouse where we will make your Custom Skin just for you.
Until next time.

+ New Machinery
Due to some technical difficulties we were experiencing with our trusty machine, we decided it would be best if we moved on, reminding ourselves that we had had a good run up until this point and that it was time for a serious upgrade. After extensive research and testing out a few alternatives we settled our sights on a Roland. We were messed around by the manufacturers of the second machine we bought after the original one died on us. They sold us a machine that was incapable of doing the job U|Karbon needed, and after a month of hassle they finally decided to take it back from us.This all came at a time when we had just got back from the Gadget Show and dissertations were due in and exams were close. To top that off, our new Roland has a different calibration system to our previous machine, meaning we had to test and redesign every single skin we offered for sale to make sure that they fit correctly - LONG. Some devices have been more difficult to get hold of since people are swanning off home as Uni is now over, hence the delay in some orders. This process is still ongoing to this day, and will be for a short while, but the new machine brings exciting new prospects for U|Karbons future. Watch this space.
+ New Devices
Due to our friends over at Clove Technology, we have been able to grow our range of devices. To our new line-up we have added the following:
- Nokia Lumia 930 (Available NOW)
- Nokia Lumia 735 (Available Soon)
- Blackberry Passport (Available NOW)
We have a lot more to come, so keep an eye on the blog and we'll let you know as and when they become available. If you are wondering if we will ever make a skin for your phone, send us an email letting us know which phone you have and we'll let you know!
+ Harry and Tom
Having both just finished University and eagerly awaiting results we have a lot more time on our hands.
The lead up to the end of University is always a tough time and with the stress of am international trade show, a failing machine, delayed orders and worried customers, it is a miracle we both managed to survive the last few months. But since we've come out the other side (somehow), the future of U|Karbon is looking bright. We now have a reseller in the Czech Republic and there are a few potential deals in the works which could be game-changers. Thanks so much for the support so far, it has been the learning curve that we hoped for.
Until next time.

With Tom and myself in our final weeks of university, balancing our time is challenging. The end of university is drawing ever closer and long days in the library are exhausting. With final assignment hand-ins and dissertation deadlines in the next few weeks, we are excited to move on and have the opportunity to take U|Karbon to the next level. At the end of the day, it was our university that allowed us to take U|Karbon to the state that it is now and without their belief in our ambition, it would not have been possible. Enough soppy comments now and on to more exciting stuff
+ New Devices
At The Gadget Show Live, we had the opportunity to meet our customers face to face. This meant that we could really judge what devices we needed to focus on next as well as challenges that you would like the business to tackle. Being predominantly an online business, we rarely get the chance for real raw feedback from our customers and being there, at the show, applying skins, gave us the opportunity to gauge what products we were missing and needed to focus on in the future. Not least of these requests was the Retina MacBook Pro 15". The question "do you do a skin for the MacBook Pro Retina 15?" became so frequent that we were kicking ourselves at not having this available to our customers. Safe to say, we have learnt and will be adding this device to our range in the coming weeks.
On top of the MacBook Pro, we are also bringing skins for the Samsung S6, Samsung Edge as well as the newest in the HTC flagship lineup, the M9. We will keep you posted we and when these reach our website.
+ New Apple Launches
If you haven't heard about the newest additions to the Apple lineup, the Apple Watch and the new MacBook, then where have you been hiding?
There has been mixed feelings about both of the devices and I have an opinion of them also. I am a real person you know. The Apple Watch seems like a good route for Apple to take. Add their design style to a part of your body that even more people can gawk at. However, I know I am not alone in thinking that with the first edition of many devices like this, there are certain restrictions that have been imposed. Let me elaborate: The choice of straps does not appeal to me, it seems a shame that you cannot really customise the watch face (classic Apple) and it can also seem sluggish at times. On a more positive side, it seems really well engineered, the design is very unlike the new Apple style, but i don't think that is a bad. Personally, I am excited to see the next release.
The Verge has a rather comprehensive and well put together review of the device here:
The new MacBook. As there is a 4 week waiting list for us to get our hands on one of these, we will not be able to offer a skin for at least that long, but rest assured, it will be there soon enough.
The device itself personally took me a little off guard. Not because I didn't anticipate it, more that the leaked images of the design disappointed me, and when Apple finally got round to revealing their amazing new product, I was still disappointed. Let me explain why: I am currently writing this post form a 2011 MacBook Air 11". This device is small, lightweight and reasonably powered. The battery life is feeble and the resolution of the screen is nothing to shout about. The new MacBook has improved the battery life, I accept that, the size, not significantly different form this machine, and the performance? I really can't justify upgrading my MacBook Air, which I bought almost 4 year ago for a far more expensive device, that is not significantly more powerful, thinner or more usable than mine. Usable, because the new USB Type C port means that whenever I want to connect anything to the device, I have to purchase an adaptor from Apple.
All that being said, the design choice fascinates me. Apple will always be seen as the peak of product design and as that is the field of my degree, it is my duty to question that.
Moving on swiftly...
Until next time.
#8 | New skins + New Products February 27 2015, 0 Comments
As expected I didn't get the chance to write a post on Sunday evening, shock, but as always we've been busy. This week we managed to finish off the templates for the Note 4, Nexus 6 and the Sony Z1. All of the devices were again kindly lent to us by Clove and are now available to purchase from our store.
On the cards for us at the moment is the prep for the Gadget Show which is now only 6 weeks away. We're both very excited to present our brand to over 80,000 people, but not quite so excited about the mountain on stock we are having to prepare for it. It's definitely added to our workload but we don't mind. Pictures of our stand progress will be posted as and when we've got something more solid together so watch out for them soon. It would also be great to hear some suggestions as we are open to them.
After an evening of finishing off the Note 4, being the random guys that we are we decided to make a midnight purchase. We are now the owners of a new toy. A 3ft, carbon remote control helicopter. Why we bought it? Why not I guess. No idea how to fly it but I'm sure it will be quite fun giving it a go. Probably quite short lived though I would imagine, we're not 5 anymore..
So we obviously only sell skins on our site, but since starting U|Karbon we've had many requests for screen protectors too. The only thing is we're not really fans of flimsy screen protectors, we're much more about tempered glass. So it recently had us doing some research which led us to find a provider of that stuff that we feel is great quality - it's currently on my (Tom) phone. Hopefully by mid March we'll have tempered glass available to purchase and the range will be starting with the iPhone 5/5S and the 6. For those of you who aren't familiar with tempered glass it's basically glass that's really angry. I kid. In short it's really tough glass that's been hardened to prevent your screen from cracking. There will obviously be a full product description available when we're ready to launch it but we're very excited about adding different forms of protection to our store!
Lastly, before I go and finish off the literature review for my dissertation (yawn), we will be releasing this little rodent next week. Safe.

So admittedly we don't post to our 'blog' that often but thats because it's difficult to find the time to run a business when you're stuck in the uni library studying for your final year. Despite the workload we remain committed to providing the best possible customer service we can and we always try to get orders posted out to you ASAP. However with everything we have going on at the moment it's no wonder that we sometimes go a little crazy, carbon becomes rarbon and rarbon becomes barbon..
Anyway we'll both be graduating this year from the University of Bournemouth so we'll have more time for U|Karbon (you-carbon). We plan on introducing a new range of different skins including matte finishes, brushed metal and wood grain effects. For now we literally don't have the time to re-photo everything but come May they will be available along with screen protectors as well as custom skins too!
Come April we'll be showing our faces at the Gadget Show Live in Birmingham from the 7-12th so if you're about come and meet us? Lots of things to plan and arrange in the mean time but 'Carbon Corner' is where it's going to be at. We're taking our cutter, which we've called Ken, on a business trip to raise awareness of our growing company, flog some skins, run a few competitions and do a few give aways. One of which will be some Beats by Dre - good headphones but nothing on Harry's Bang & Olufsen H6's #swag.
You may or may not know that we work with a local company called Clove Technology. These guys list our products on their site and also lend us phones to carbon. We currently hold the Z1, Note 4 and the Nexus 6. Templates will be complete over the next few days and the products will be available as and when. After this we aim to get skins for the Macbook Pro Retina 15" along with some Nokia devices too. You can check out Clove @ http://www.clove.co.uk/ and while you're there you may as well read a few articles they have written on us @ http://blog.clove.co.uk/?s=ukarbon, one of which includes an interview about ourselves (Tom & Harry) and our company.
So while you're here I thought I'd show you some behind the U|Karbon scenes stuff. On the right is an afternoons worth of orders that our cutter (Ken) has churned out for us. We design our templates on Adobe Illustrator (which takes hours and hours by the way) and from this Kenneth cuts them out for us. The next step is weeding the skins, a process which requires us to pick out all the little cut outs one by one - pretty long too. After this we cut them down, package them up and nip down to our local post office which is literally a 2 minute walk away!
So anyway thats a wrap from me (Tom) for tonight. I've got uni in the morning and a dissertation to crack on with. I am usually always available on our LiveChat feature so hit me up on there if you need anything. I will aim to get a post out every Sunday around this time but I am going to be honest it probably won't happen. We will be running a Polar White sale this week so watch out for that if you're interested in 25% off and if you're nosey catch us on Instagram @summerfieldtom and @hazzahex. Obviously we'd be grateful for any likes and follows on our U|Karbon social media pages too.

Not a great deal of stuff gets uploaded to these but again it comes down to not having the time. Busy week ahead as always. Peace.

We finished the LG G3 template today and it is available on the site now!
We hope you like it as much as we do.
We also got the opportunity to use a Professional Canon 6D and took the photos for the LG G3 with this amazing piece of equipment. As well as the photographs, we filmed the installation video for the device and it will be uploaded onto the YouTube Channel as well after it has been edited.
From tomorrow we will also be starting a weekly promotion where we will be listing a specific product for 50% off. If you want to be updated with these deals, be sure to subscribe to our newsletter below.

After a morning meeting at Coffee#1, U|Karbon are pleased to announce that we will be working in conjunction with Clove Technology. Further details are to follow soon and we'll of course keep you updated as things develop.
In other news, U|Karbon have now got the LG G3 and Beats Solo 2.0 at our disposal and you know what that means, more skins.
P.S thank god for WIFI
#Two | New Website Feature October 23 2014, 0 Comments
So we always try our best to reflect the quality of the material we sell but we never feel the pictures we take quite do it justice. We're obviously going to say it looks better in person but it genuinely does. So what we have decided to do is offer free sample cuts of the material, just so you can see for yourself before purchasing.
The new feature will be ready by midnight tonight and upon requesting a free sample we'll even be sending you a personal 10% off discount code.
Try it out HERE
Last night whilst the drunken students were stumbling back from Cameo with cheesy chips in hand, it was around the same time (4am) that we managed to finish the template for the MacBook Air 13" and it is available in the store now.
Additionally, we completed the Samsung S5 today too. The collection grows...

- Video/article Reviews
- Competitions (we will do the occasional giveaways)
- Developments & general interesting information
and of course a little bit about us and our views and our random thoughts and ideas. We don't want to take this too seriously because we set up U|Karbon for fun and it has been since we cut out our first skin, the HTC Desire HD and since then everything in our University house has got a bit of carbon on it - no joke.
